Federal Minister Khalid Hussain Magsi Meets Assist. Prof. Dr. Daniel Jablonski
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Khalid Hussain Magsi, met with Assist.Prof. Dr. Daniel Jablonski of Comenius University in Bratislava to discuss strengthening zoological research in Pakistan, particularly on reptiles and amphibians.
Despite its largely arid environment, Pakistan hosts a rich diversity of reptile species due to its varied landscapes and unique geographic position. The meeting focused on improving research in taxonomy, genetics, species distribution, and the discovery of new species.
Dr. Daniel Jablonski is conducting research in Central Asia and the Middle East to discover new species and the hidden diversity of animals. Together with Pakistani collaborators, he already discovered several new species from Pakistan.
Both sides emphasized the importance of international collaboration, field surveys, museum collections, and modern scientific methods to better understand Pakistan’s biodiversity. The discussion highlighted Pakistan’s strong potential for important scientific discoveries.
