Under the Belarusian – Pakistani Center of Science and Technology Cooperation the Pakistani Branch of the Center at PCSIR Head Office Islamabad opened today will assist the educational institutions, research organizations, innovative and innovative industrial enterprises in the expanding the business and academic relations and contracts in the field of the scientific and technological research of the Republic of Belarus with similar institutions and enterprises of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and develop efficient mechanism of interaction between the Belarusian and the Pakistani S&T organizations in the implementation of the joint projects and the promotion of advanced technologies and products to markets for assistance to the scientific and commercial cooperation in the field of the high-tech and innovative products.
The meeting noted with interest the decisions taken under the Second JCST held in Islamabad on 22-23 September 2016 as follows: Three Joint R&D Projects were approved for implementation during 2016-17.
Statues of the Belarusian-Pakistani Center of Science and Technology Cooperation were agreed and approved for signing and Opening the Pakistani Branch of the Centre during the visit of the President of Belarus H.E. Alexander Lukashenko to Islamabad in  early October 2016.
The two sides will designate respective focal points in Pakistan and Belarus for dealing with   joint R&D proposals in 2016-17 through a Joint Call for proposals from R&D Organizations in the two countries for:
An Executive Program of Cooperation 2016-17 under which the COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT) will hold Second Pakistan Belarus Young Scientists Forum in Islamabad in 2017, and CIIT will also offer Scholarships to Six Belarusian Students for studies at CIIT covering Tuition fee and boarding and lodging in Pakistan.
The Belarusian side will invite a delegation of PSQCA and PNAC to visit Minsk to pursue cooperation in the fields of Standardization and Accreditation. The 3rd Meeting of the JCST will be held in Minsk during 2017 at a mutually agreed date.

The Ministry of Science and Technology has initiated a number of steps to implement the joint proposals and measures to establish strong linkages among the research institutes and academic institutions on the one hand and public sector entities, industry and individual entrepreneurs on the other hand, with a view to reorienting R&D toward market requirements and thereby enhancing its contribution to national socio-economic development.


The delegates emphasized to allocate adequate resources for R&D, and to adopt long and short term policies in various sectors of economy to improve performance and good governance, through regulatory measures as well as incentive mechanisms.
            The Federal Minister for Science & Technology during his meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister informed that Pakistan supports scientific exchanges which contribute positively to coalition- building and dialogue among nations for peace and sustainable development. The Minister may like to ensure this that the enhanced interactions between the scientific communities of two countries of Pakistan and Belarus through implementation of the Agreement and follow-up programs of cooperation in S&T fields, especially setting up of the joint Centre at PCSIR would further increase in the times ahead.
Pakistan and Belarus are working together to develop substantive and long-term relationship in all fields including trade, economic, education, science and technology and defense. The agreement on Science and Technology Cooperation – May 2015 provides for strengthening Scientific and Technological Cooperation between the two counties for development of long term cooperation by defining areas of research cooperation, procedures, financing and other modalities to work jointly on scientific issues of mutual interests.
