President Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi inaugurates STEM Program.
STEM (An Abbreviation for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) program, an effort to refurbish and revamp science education paradigm in Pakistan has been launched today. The program focuses on scientific training of students from 50 Government schools initially.
The Program will eventually be spread throughout the country. The program is for students of Higher Secondary Schools. The selected schools will become hubs of STEM education and will serve as model schools for all schools of adjoining areas.
Students are selected purely on the basis of merit. The program lays special focus on capacity building of science teachers to become STEM master trainees. The aim is to educate the educators as well.
Moreover, STEM FABLABS will be established in all STEM designated schools which will have state of the art research facilities and will also provide latest resources for digital fabrication. STEM will help to inculcate the ability to think, innovate and lead in students. The Minister appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and Dr. Shahid Baig (Chairman PSF) in materializing the program with efficiency.
